Why we do this
Health information is easy to publish and hard to get right. Guidelines change, thresholds are revised, funding arrangements shift, and clinical nomenclature is renamed — the liver disease terminology on this site changed within the last few years, and Australian funding decisions for liver diagnostics changed more recently than that.
Independent clinical review is how we catch what a writer working from published sources will miss.
Panel status
Our medical review panel is being established. Until named reviewers are confirmed and listed here, clinical pages remain drafts for review: they are written from primary Australian sources, but they do not yet carry a live practitioner sign-off.
When the panel is active, each clinical page will show the reviewing practitioner, their registration details, and the last review date.
What review will involve
Before a clinical page is cleared for full publication, a registered Australian health practitioner will check that it is:
- Clinically accurate — the science is correct
- Current — consistent with current Australian guidance, not superseded or international-only
- Appropriately caveated — uncertainty represented as uncertainty, limitations stated
- Not misleading by omission — nothing material left out that changes the picture
- Appropriately scoped — general information, with clear direction to individual clinical care
Reviewers will be able to require changes before publication. Where a reviewer and our editorial team disagree, the clinical judgement will prevail.
Independence
Reviewers are engaged for clinical accuracy. They have no role in commercial decisions, no financial interest in the directory or its listings, and no involvement in advertising or partnerships.
Reviewers are paid for their time. Payment is not contingent on approving content, and reviewers can and do require changes.
Reviewing for us
We're interested in hearing from registered Australian practitioners with experience in metabolic health — general practice, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, dietetics, exercise physiology and related fields. Paid, flexible, remote.
